Institutional History and Proposed Renaming

Recognizing the importance of education for quality of life, the people of Maigo in the province of Lanao del Norte pooled their efforts in order to put up a secondary school that could accommodate the increasing number of youth who needed high school education.

Consequently, the Maigo High School was established beginning School Year 1948-1949 under the auspices of the Maigo Parent Teacher Association (PTA)...

From High School to Trade School

...Republic Act No. 2408 converted the Maigo High School into the Maigo Trade School...

Rationale for Renaming to MSU-MCEST

  1. Expanded Academic Focus – Beyond arts and trades.
  2. Modernization & Industry Relevance – Aligned with digital careers.
  3. Enhanced Institutional Status – “College” signals growth.
  4. Inclusion of Education Programs – Reflects teacher training.
  5. Alignment with Global Trends
  6. Community and Economic Growth
  7. Increased Enrollment & Student Opportunities

The proposed name, MSU-Maigo College of Education, Science, and Technology (MSU-MCEST), better reflects the university’s academic focus and programs...

...We chose MSU-MCEST and not MSU-Maigo because the latter lacks specificity and fails to reflect the current academic focus of the institution.

The transition to MSU-MCEST is necessary to solidify the institution’s identity as a center for education, science, and technology.
